Online Dating

A lot of my single girlfriends have been talking about online dating. I do agree that it is easier to meet people that way and I have several friends in very happy relationships using an array of sites. I have heard all of their experiences and would like to share some pros and cons.

Pros
You meet people. Love is luck and timing and a numbers game. So the more people you meet the more chance that you are looking for love at the same time.
You have fun. Even if the dates do not end up in a serious relationship…you can meet a new friend.
Convenient. With work, school, family, friends, and the millions of other tasks on everyone’s plate it…that has time to meet people at happy hour or restaurant.

Cons
True intentions. You may be ready for a serious relationship, but the guy says that with the hope of “scoring.”
False feelings. Since you both are looking for love…I have heard several people “fall in love” after a few dates. Ladies, love does not happen that quickly and if a boy says that after a weekend together…slap him.
Checklist syndrome. You see a guy’s profile and it has everything on your checklist… tall, educated, likes to stay in shape, etc… You feel like you found your prince. Remember what you want on your checklist may not be the guy you need to marry. No one is perfect and the checklist guy may turn out to be the Craigslist killer and not your soul mate.
No validation. At least meeting someone the old fashioned way like a set-up, your friends can vouch that he does not have an arrest history.

With dating sites, a man can make up anything he wants and so can the girl. How would you know even if their name is real? When my girlfriend told me she was meeting someone. I asked for his name and goggled the hell out of it to see if he matched what he said aka career…location…picture.
