S got this deal all on his own will and he is so proud because it was great. Willowcroft is the oldest winery in Loudon County and has a unique charm about it. The vineyard is located off the beaten path, literally. There is a paved path to the vineyard, but your GPS will take you on the gravel road, so be careful about that.
We got a tasting and spaghetti. The tasting included 12 different samples. The person who poured for our tasting barely gave us anything, which was very disappointing. There was another couple next to us and they got probably triple what we had per pour. After 5 samples, another staff member switched and that was the best thing that could have happened.
If you go there, make sure you get someone that is generous with the tasting! I am not much of a drinker, but I noticed either the person pouring is generous or extremely stingy; there isn’t really anything in between.
This location is very far from the city, even from my Tyson’s. If you got the deal from Travelzoo like we did ($15 for tasting and spaghetti dinner for 2) and wanted to spend a few hours there, I say go for it, but there are closer wineries that offer a better atmosphere. My favorite one was the Winery at Bull Run. It has a great outdoor seating area along with live music.
S loves this place, but I think it’s because they gave 2 helpings of spaghetti and cheese.
